https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205072 Summary: cannot compile Promise sata 300 driver with suse 10.1 kernel source Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 URL: http://www.promise.com/support/download/download2_eng.as p?productId=138&category=driver&os=3&go=GO OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: per@kofod.dk QAContact: qa@suse.de I am trying to compile the promise supplied driver for the sata 300 Tx2plus card, this gives the following error when trying to compile for either the linux-2.6.16.13-4 or the linux-2.6.16.21-0.13 kernel. In file included from /home/per/src/ut_mod/pdc-ulsata2.c:3316: /usr/src/linux/drivers/scsi/scsi_module.c: In function ‘init_this_scsi_driver’: /usr/src/linux/drivers/scsi/scsi_module.c:19: error: ‘driver_template’ undeclared (first use in this function) /usr/src/linux/drivers/scsi/scsi_module.c:19: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once /usr/src/linux/drivers/scsi/scsi_module.c:19: error: for each function it appears in.) /usr/src/linux/drivers/scsi/scsi_module.c: In function ‘exit_this_scsi_driver’: /usr/src/linux/drivers/scsi/scsi_module.c:54: error: ‘driver_template’ undeclared (first use in this function) make[2]: *** [/home/per/src/ut_mod/pdc-ulsata2.o] Error 1 make[1]: *** [_module_/home/per/src/ut_mod] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.16.13-4' make: *** [default] Error 2 Before trying to compile, I have done a `make cloneconfig` and `make modules_prerare` in the kernel source directory. Compiling the same driver on a SuSE 10.0 system for either linux-2.6.13-15.11 of a kernel 1.6.17-rc6 from kernel.org works ok With the suse supplied SATA driver, the PATA port in the TX2Plus card is not recognised.
