Just to be sure. First off, you need to check whether the dock is really connected over HD-audio link. Try to run hda-verb with GET_PIN_SENSE for each pin widget, e.g. hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x12 GET_PIN_SENSE 0 and try plug/unplug the dock jack and see whether the value changes.
