[Bug 1131337] New: X850 V1.3 hat for Raspberry Pi 3 is not working within u-boot
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1131337 Bug ID: 1131337 Summary: X850 V1.3 hat for Raspberry Pi 3 is not working within u-boot Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: aarch64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader Assignee: jsrain@suse.com Reporter: guillaume.gardet@arm.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I am trying to use a X850 V1.3 hat (USB/mSATA) for Raspberry Pi 3: http://www.raspberrypiwiki.com/index.php/X850#Installation_Guide_For_X850_V1... I connected the external 5V to GPIO header as required. It works to load firmware (most of the time), but it fails in u-boot with: starting USB... Since it works unreliably first thing to check would be the power supply. Usually for USB disks an external hub is recommended. In your link I see nothing about connecting 5V pins, please explain in detail.
There is an external 5V to connect to RPi header to get more power than from USB only.
Also, is this with Factory or hardware:boot:staging u-boot-rpi3? (Which version?)
u-boot is from Factory: v2019.01 with openSUSE patches, as usual.
Since probably no one else on this bug has that HAT you'll need to help pinpoint.
Sure. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I tested again with latest tw image: openSUSE-Tumbleweed-ARM-JeOS-raspberrypi3.aarch64-2019.10.25- Snapshot20191109.raw with u-boot 2019.10.
And it is still the same problem. Maybe some timeouts are too shorts to handle it?
Even the firmware has some troubles to get loaded fro; it. In this case ACT led is switched ON after a while and remains on.
I'm not able to work on that as I don't have the HW. Would you mind to provide feedback to the upstream U-Boot list? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
