While it is not written into printers.conf, it is shown as a "Remote" queue on the "Overview" dialog, see autodetect_print_queues for the reason and background information. Config files are updated immediately, and you can assume that the updated files will be available after the corresponding command, function call, or IPP operation is completed. .. The only files that cupsd does not write immediately are the job and remote printer cache files.
