[Bug 450900] New: Security update of hal to 0.5.11-8. 2 breaks access as user to scanner.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=450900 Summary: Security update of hal to 0.5.11-8.2 breaks access as user to scanner. Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Security AssignedTo: security-team@suse.de ReportedBy: robin.listas@telefonica.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- As commented in the opensuse mail list: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2008-12/msg00075.html I could no longer access my scanner. On Nov 11 it worked, since yesterday it did not: xsane said that no devices were found. However, as root, it worked. Please look up in the mail list all that was tried ineffectually. Finally, I noticed that on Nov 29 I had installed several related packages, and hal. I reverted each one, one by one, and when I reverted hal, it worked. I classify as major, as it causes "Major loss of function" (non working scanner). I classify as security, as it was a security update the cause of the problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The address increases each cycle. Will it run out of addresses?
AFAIK this is normal and shouldn't be a problem. If it's now working, I close the bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
