NetworkManager is started when the first user logs in. If then another user logs in on the same machine, this user does not see the icon and is not able to influence the connection.

Even worse: if the first user logs out, NetworkManager closes the connection (though there still is a process) and the second user loses his connection.

The only solution is to have the first user log in again, then a connection is made again immediately.
