When booting the installation CD ipw2100 fails to load. On console 4 the following error is repeated endlessly: ipw2100: eth1: Failed to start the card. It is an AMD64 bit system, I actually do not know whether ipw2100 is supported on this platform, or whether there were any AMD64 notebooks sold with it at all. I've installed the card in that machine for testing purposes some time ago (see bug 120587). I don't think the current version of ipw2100 will work on 64-bits boxes. Since I currently don't have a 64-bits box that can use ipw2100 card, I cannot test what I changed.
