[Bug 513019] New: shutdown after resume from s2disk
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=513019 Summary: shutdown after resume from s2disk Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: estellnb@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/3.5; Linux) KHTML/3.5.10 (like Gecko) SUSE It has now happened two times with the newly updated 2.6.27.23-0.1.1 kernel that a shutdown was initiated directly after resume from s2disk. Up to now I just kept experiencing repeated self-s2rams after resume from s2ram. Issuing an init 5 during shutdown could not rescue the system (I would expect an init 5 to terminate the shutdown process.). Reproducible: Sometimes -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

There is a hint about this in http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram#The_machine_immediately_shuts_down_after_resume... For me it worked to remove the files from /etc/acpi/events. There was a file (example from installation) /etc/acpi/power_button which triggered the script /usr/lib/acpid/power_button in which /sbin/shutdown -h now was called. You could see -written by the script- a line 'pm-profiler: Power Button pressed, executing /sbin/shutdown -h now' in /var/log/messages directly after resume. I dont't know who 'pressed the power button' after resume, but sometimes acpi is strange. Try it. Cheers Peter -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is the problem still present? Did you use KPowersave (under KDE3) to call the suspend?
Hello Danny, First I should say, that I'm not the bug reporter, only a 'participant'. I upgraded to openSUSE 11.2 (kernel 2.6.31.12-0.2-default i686) with KDE4 (4.3.5 "release 0"). And so, I use now PowerDevil to call the suspend. But still, I removed all scripts from /etc/acpi/events (see my https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=513019#c6), 'to be on the safe side'. I've another issue with suspend, (see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=567664) , but this is more kernel or module related. Thank's a lot.
