[Bug 1123094] New: Erratic behavior on LEAP 15.0 with Fitlet2
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1123094 Bug ID: 1123094 Summary: Erratic behavior on LEAP 15.0 with Fitlet2 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: David@WalkerStreet.info QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 795290 --> http://bugzilla.suse.com/attachment.cgi?id=795290&action=edit hwinfo from Mint 19 I hate to say this, after resolving bug #1122554, there are still issues with the Fitlet2 and LEAP 15.0. It now boots OK, but... 1. When the monitor has been switched off overnight (or maybe over a shorter period of time - I'm not sure yet), the system behaves erratically. I can't launch applications, and I get file protection errors (which could be the reason I can't launch applications). The display typically goes black not long after that. 2. WiFi isn't working. The kernel seems happy with it, but wicked can't initialize the interface. Perhaps I need a new version from 4.20.2's kernel-firmware package? Here are some relevant log records: 2019-01-22T16:15:33.637983-08:00 fitlet2 kernel: [ 5.420711] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002) 2019-01-22T16:15:33.637989-08:00 fitlet2 kernel: [ 5.446700] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: loaded firmware version 34.0.1 op_mode iwlmvm 2019-01-22T16:15:33.638017-08:00 fitlet2 kernel: [ 5.534960] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Detected Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless AC 8260, REV=0x208 2019-01-22T16:15:33.638034-08:00 fitlet2 kernel: [ 5.625392] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: base HW address: dc:8b:28:54:ea:f7 ============== 2019-01-22T16:15:34.677452-08:00 fitlet2 wickedd-nanny[929]: device wlan0: call to org.opensuse.Network.Wireless.changeDevice() failed: General failure 2019-01-22T16:15:34.677894-08:00 fitlet2 wickedd-nanny[929]: wlan0: failed to bring up device, still continuing 2019-01-22T16:15:54.415475-08:00 fitlet2 wicked[1019]: wlan0 device-not-running Compulab, the makers of the Fitlet2, recommend Linux Mint 19, so I installed it, and it seems to work fine. So, I started looking for differences. From bug #1122554, we know that openSUSE has trouble recognizing the GPU, due to BIOS insufficiency, but I also noticed that openSUSE has trouble with the host bridge, and Mint 19 is using an older version of firmware for the GPU. I don't know, however, which of these is a likely culprit. I'll attach hwinfo, lspci, and modinfo information from both distributions to see if you can help. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
