[Bug 246390] New: Bluetooth management too complex
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=246390 Summary: Bluetooth management too complex Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 0plus Platform: i686 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: casualprogrammer@yahoo.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: behlert@novell.com BugsThisDependsOn: 245319 +++ This bug was initially created as a copy of Bug #245319 +++ Apart from the issues described in 245319, it would make sense to integrate the two task bar icons for Bluetooth File Sharing (gnome) and Bluetooth Applet (gnome) into one for clarity. Also the control for file transfer should be moved from the Application Menu to the Bluetooth Applet icon. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Still needs a bit more cleanup and some discussion upstream. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

And likewise kill it when bluetooth is switched off ? I think the functionality is OK as is, it's just a matter of convenience, especially for new users. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Programmer <casualprogrammer@yahoo.com> 2008-05-18 02:23:25 MST --- Any news here ? I still need the gnome-obex-server to transmit files from phone to notebook. While Bluetooth Preferences boasts und the General tab: File transfer Receive files from remote device (checked) Share files from public folder (checked) no files will be received from remote device ( phone ) and listing available services on the phone shows none. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The main problem IMHO is that bluez-gnome upstream is not very gnome-friendly (read: they want to "work" as a try applet in, say, openbox) and the whole bluetooth applet thing is not great usability-wise. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
