[Bug 443287] New: AppArmour Control Pan Offers No Help in Correctly creating an Email Address for Notification
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=443287 Summary: AppArmour Control Pan Offers No Help in Correctly creating an Email Address for Notification Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: AppArmor AssignedTo: jjohansen@novell.com ReportedBy: alpha096@virginbroadband.com.au QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer With nothing mention in the Help Screen on the AppArmour Control Panel I would suspect that no one really every receives the chosen Alerts. All the other information is covered to do with severity, Verbose Nature, however it remains unclear weather severity 0 or 10 is the highest. The Help Screen offers the direction to "Insert the email address of those who would receive....." Without directions to point to the correct file to receive the notifications as well as the correct delimiter that should be used to separate the addresses and the explanation that not just anyone can receive the AppArmour messages as the need to be a valid user on that PC.. The Same situation applies to those who select Receive System Mail at time of Install - It never tells anyone how the pick up the system messages they elected during Installation. My Apologies for really covering 2 errors in 1 bug, however the answer to them all will be the same and easily copied into a Help File so that one day some one will get system messages either from System Email, or AppArmour configured addresses, correctly delimited and both address know as users of the PC. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

There is nothing clear about " Enter the email address of those who should receive the Terse, Summary, or Verbose notifications. " We know its not a pop3 address - Its root system email address except if you nominate a user to receive system email - AND you get the directory input correct -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

You enter an email address in each of the boxes where you'd like to receive a report. You can't list more than one email address. The help text has already been updated to define whether 0 or 10 is the highest priority. What directory input are you talking about? I just brought up the control panel, entered my email address, said "1 minute" and got a Security Report via email shortly thereafter. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Can you give me a screen shot of the address you added and which email client/? you were able to view the security report. The email field will accept just about anything. If we permit a pop3 address which SMTP Server IP is used - What is the from Address to comply with SMTP validation, where is a field to permit password authority of SMTP Server. We don't have local DNS Servers and we don't have Apache web servers? How does a single PC accomplish this? I have a large LAN but choose not to have local DNS/Web Servers - I freely use my externally hosted domain and their smtp server or my ISP POP3 TLS/and lastly I use Thunderbird. How does a single opensuse PC get system mail and what address do they enter in Apparmour - Are they not forced to use Linux system mail where the email client draining /var/mail but the issue for us is how do we provide such example to cover all of the above. 'Just Enter you Email Address' does not quite do it for all the above in this and your comments What you think? - I think we can make it so very much more clear. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

We also need to fit in - If the user has designated the install user to receive system mail we can use <user@localhost> and if not it will be <root@localhost>. While we are there looking at the help on apparmour its difficult to understand from the curent information if 1 its the highest priority and 9 is the lowest and what does 0 do for priority - Its a little vague.
