So e.g. after sax2 -r the configuration is created and when the xserver started the screen is black and have to reboot the computer. This may be due to the xserver assuming that an external VGA monitor is connected. Because when I add an external monitor sax2 starts and I can configure the monitor, but the screen of the laptop still stays black. I then switched back to the i810 driver (sax2 -r -m 0=i810) and x started. But I was not able not activate 3D. I have at least two 845G Intel machines, on which this driver works though (Dell Optiplex GX260 and a FSC machine). I suggest to switch back to i810 driver for now. This one is an intel driver issue. I suggest to go back to i810 for now and try a newer intel driver later once it becomes available. Ouch. My experience is that at this state you can only reboot the machine. :-( But at least a mode seems to be found now, which is even the configured one!
