[Bug 1183198] Kernel 5.11.2: self-compiled module fails to load with relocation error
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1183198 https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1183198#c6 --- Comment #6 from Achim Gratz <Stromeko@NexGo.DE> --- Well, then what is the correct method of compiling a module for the current kernel? The only thing available seems to be /usr/share/doc/packages/kernel-source-5.11.2-1/README.SUSE which is awfully long in the tooth. I've pieced the rest of it together from various forum posts, but these, too, are several years old. I've asked on both the devel and the support list last year on the best way to do that and I got exactly nothing. I have installed the sources and the object tree all for the current kernel from the officially provided packages. I don't want to build a new kernel even when I know how to do it because it takes too long on that machine. If there really is no way to reliably build a module for the current kernel then I still think that is broken behaviour and needs to be fixed. I've built both with and without the "make clean" part and it doesn't seem to make any appreciable difference if that's what you were getting at. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
