[Bug 274663] New: s2ram, docu and MacBookPro
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274663 Summary: s2ram, docu and MacBookPro Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Mobile Devices AssignedTo: seife@novell.com ReportedBy: ro@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: behlert@novell.com, lrupp@novell.com the s2ram docu does mention /etc/pm/config.d but not that you have to create the config file within yourself and what the content needs to look like. For the MacBookPro with loaded ati driver, it's wrong to VBE_POST or VBE_MODE the card, just a plain "s2ram -f" works (for reference: "s2ram -f -a1" works as well) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274663 ------- Comment #2 from ro@novell.com 2007-05-22 17:48 MST ------- MacBookRudi:~ # s2ram -n Machine matched entry 3: sys_vendor = 'Apple Computer, Inc.' sys_product = 'MacBookPro2,2' sys_version = '' bios_version = '' Fixes: 0x88 VBE_POST VBE_MODE This machine can be identified by: sys_vendor = "Apple Computer, Inc." sys_product = "MacBookPro2,2" sys_version = "1.0" bios_version = " MBP22.88Z.00A5.B01.0611031551" See http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram for details. If you report a problem, please include the complete output above. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274663 ------- Comment #3 from seife@novell.com 2007-05-23 07:54 MST ------- Ok, the reported model which needed VBE_POST|VBE_MODE was: sys_vendor = "Apple Computer, Inc." sys_product = "MacBookPro2,2" sys_version = "1.0" bios_version = " MBP22.88Z.00A5.B00.0610192105" It seems that the bios_version _does_ matter on this machine. Does "ati" driver mean the fglrx driver or the opensource radeon driver? Does plain "-f" or/and "-f -a1" also work from the text console? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274663 ------- Comment #4 from ro@novell.com 2007-05-23 09:13 MST ------- radeon does not work for a ATI radeon mobility X1600 as far as I know. yes, it's the fglrx driver. no, "s2ram -f" does not work on the text console (only after switching to vt7 and back) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274663 ------- Comment #5 from seife@novell.com 2007-05-23 11:05 MST ------- ok, so this is nothing for the whitelist :-( I'll update the documentation, though. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274663 dbornkessel@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|ASSIGNED |NEEDINFO Info Provider| |ro@novell.com ------- Comment #6 from dbornkessel@novell.com 2007-05-25 06:32 MST ------- Hi. My machine seems to be the same as Rudis: Machine matched entry 3: sys_vendor = 'Apple Computer, Inc.' sys_product = 'MacBookPro2,2' sys_version = '' bios_version = '' Fixes: 0x88 VBE_POST VBE_MODE This machine can be identified by: sys_vendor = "Apple Computer, Inc." sys_product = "MacBookPro2,2" sys_version = "1.0" bios_version = " MBP22.88Z.00A5.B01.0611031551" See http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram for details. However: Neither s2ram -f nor s2ram -f -a1 works with X or without X. I set vga=0 in lilo ... do I have to configure more or do I need any additional packages (something like applesmc)? I guess that I am missing something. I don't get the blinking 'y' letters neither -- the screen just goes black with a blinking cursor in the upper left corner. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274663 seife@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEEDINFO |ASSIGNED Info Provider|ro@novell.com | ------- Comment #7 from seife@novell.com 2007-06-05 12:00 MST ------- it does not even suspend? Then this is a different bug. The documentation at http://en.opensuse.org/Pm-utils is updated now BTW, it even has a section "where is the logfile" :-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274663 ------- Comment #8 from ro@novell.com 2007-06-05 12:13 MST ------- "does not even suspend" is exactly the problem that I hit when I forget to specify "vga=0" on the kernel command line ... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
