[Bug 298398] New: xorg.conf jacked after installation
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=298398 Summary: xorg.conf jacked after installation Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 5 Platform: i586 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: sgt-d@sodpit.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- i know we discussed this back in alpha 1... but as of alpha 5 this was still a problem. in alpha 1, yast/sax2 failed to recognize my video card. in alpha 5, yast/sax2 successfully recognized my video card. but in both cases, as soon as i finish the installation - even though the installer is graphical - suse fails to start x. only one time over about 15-20 installations have i actually been able to boot right in to graphical mode. in all of the other cases, the xorg.conf file somehow gets jacked. what i have had to do in all of the failed installations is... cd /etc/X11 mv xorg.conf xorg.conf.jacked cp xorg.conf.install xorg.conf startx once i copy the .install file over, x works fine. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Option "Vendor" "Sysp"
(WW) Option "vendor" requires an integer value
# man evdev Option "vendor" "integer" Specifies the vendor ID for the device you wish to use. This is either 0 (the default, matches anything), or the Vendor=<n> field in /proc/bus/input/devices for your device. This value should remain constant barring perhaps firmware updates to the device itself. Marcus, can you help investigating this issue. Most of the specified options for evdev driver look invalid to me ... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
