Unfortunately, I cannot see us fixing the problem in near future as we just take the Ralink drivers from upstream and don't have the resources to look into bugs in them (and there are quite a few, not just this one). As the workaround is available, this is a low priority. I could lower the priority but the bug would just hang here forever anyway. Sorry, I understand that you would like this solved correctly but fortunately at least some solution is available.
