The problem is discussed in: http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php?p=2349658
The problem is even worse in OpenSuSE 11.4.
For those that don't speak Dutch, here is an english translation of the openSUSE Gents, the problem is something else than I had described. Testing by means of the rescue modes of the CDs with the following results: OpenSUSE 10.3: Tape is simply to use, even mt offline operating normally, the result of status then mt: mt: / dev/st0: No medium found. Reloading of the tape also works properly. OpenSUSE 11.3: Tape can be used for backup, status is OK However mt offline and then request a status report provides: mt: / dev/st0: rmtioctl failed: No such device After a reboot is the only way the tape again to speak. OpenSUSE 11.4: Tape can not be used for backup, but (initially) or working status. Offline provides the same set as 11.3 (Additional testing using Ubuntu 10.10 also provides the same results as 11.3) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The patch fixed a problem where SCSI errors could be ignored. That must mean there is a SCSI error in this case. Let's focus on openSUSE 11.4, since that's the latest. You're saying you cannot get the CCISS tape drive to work at all in 11.4, correct? If so, in your first comment (Comment #0), which step is failing? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
