[Bug 1103648] New: gpk-prefs has no option to disable automatic update checks

http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1103648 Bug ID: 1103648 Summary: gpk-prefs has no option to disable automatic update checks Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME Assignee: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: william@blackhats.net.au QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Everytime I login to my machine (sometimes after a few days) I'm greeted by one (or 2, 3 ....) prompts saying "Administrator credentials required to check for software updates". This is even after a zypper dup; reboot cycle. Once a day I find this prompt appears and stacks over multiple. However, gpk-prefs has *removed* the ability to disable automatic updates. First, there is *zero* documentation provided on how to provide my account with the required administrator privileges to allow update checks to work. Second, the fact I can not disable automatic update check prompts is quite frustrating. To reproduce: Install tumbleweed useradd dailyaccount use that account (even if granted sudo) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

These alerts break workflow and are annoying to a point where people may consider not using the platform in the future. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

It's a good idea not to change this on other people's bugs. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
