Versions are not the same, or kernel source is missing. My current: kernel-default 2.6.27.7-4.1 (i586) kernel-source 2.6.27.7-4.1 (i586) there is no any kernel source on my machine after installation! kernel-default 2.6.27.7-8.1 (i586) exists, but there is no kernel-source for it in the update list. I can not use vmware workstation, i could use it with kernel-default 2.6.27.7-1.1 (i586). Now, RC1 looks like stable.
