[Bug 650169] New: Mailing groups in akonadi (formerly "distribution lists") are not expanded in kmail
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=650169 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=650169#c0 Summary: Mailing groups in akonadi (formerly "distribution lists") are not expanded in kmail Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: volker.barth@ltm.uni-erlangen.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.2.10) Gecko/20100914 SUSE/3.6.10-0.3.1 Firefox/3.6.10 Setting up a group (list of email recipients) in kaddressbook (akonadi backend) is useless in context with kmail. When writing an email using kmail, one is able to find the group, let's call this group "Test". "Test" contains the recipients "A@test.com" and "B@test.com". However, when actually sending this email, the email addresses which are stored in the group "Test" are not expanded. Instead of sending the email to "A@test.com" and "B@test.com", kmail tries to send an email to the address Test@<Default domain> (with <Default domain> being defined in kmail's settings, normally it is the hostname, I guess). Hence the delivery of the mail fails. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a group of email recipients (using the akonadi backend) 2. Using kmail, write an email with the under (1) set-up group as recipient 3. Send this email Actual Results: Email returns, flagged as non-deliverable, because of the group not being expanded properly. Expected Results: The email recipient list defined by the group should be expanded. The email should be sent to all members of the group. OS is openSuSE 11.3 with all available patches applied. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I just updated 11.3 to KDE4.6.00 (4.6.0) release 386 and this still occurs. I have important email that should go out today, and it bounces because the domain is added to the group when sending either to: or BCC:. Mesaage from bounce is: <md19-d_zone_chairman_distribution@linux-98qc>: Sorry, I couldn't find any host named linux-98qc. (#5.1.2) linux-98qc is my host name, and the list id not expanded even thought displaying the group show correct entries. This is a major issue for me as I send to approx. 150 people and I don't want to select each one. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Now just have 11.4 operational. In 11.4 When I create the group, it creates fine but all I see in Kmail is a Group List under Distribution lists, but there are only blank card where email addresses should appear. Theis was working in 11.4 RC1 at least displaying the names in the Kmail select distribution list. In that case it was adding the system domain to the name of the list when the mail was sent and not expanding to the contents of the list. I will be glad to test something, if you can help with necessary patches of provide an rpm. I also should be able to complete something if spec file etc is provided in .tar file. Will: I am moved to 4.6.1 on 3-20 hoping it would work and have version 1.5.0-93.1.x86_64.rpm installed from the repo mentioned in comment #8. I have 6 Didtribution groulps created in contact. Kmail shows the groups with the correct number of users, but when you open a group all the (cards are blank) but the right number of them are there. example: Bulletin_Distribution_Others 9 email addresses | -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Today's KDE updates brought akonadi-runtime-1.5.0-93.1.i586 and Distribution Lists appear to be working, at least for me, again. The latest commit message in the changelog reads: * Mon Mar 14 2011 freitag@novell.com - add fix for the nepomuk query api, backport from akonadi 1.5, commit be3b9db9 I don't know if this was the commit that got things working again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I can create the lists in Contacts, all data looks good, then go to select Distribution List, pick list and display contents of list. The list name and number of contacts is correct but all the cards in that list are blank, there are the correct number of card(contacts). Also just found if I create a list with save list in kmail, it saves it to contacts fine. if I then ad a contact, that get sent to Kmail but the added contact card is blank. I looked at the akonadi agents and I think all the correct ones are running.
