https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=250493 Summary: Can not print two pages on one sheet (one page printing is normal) Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: PC OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Keywords: printing Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing AssignedTo: jsmeix@novell.com ReportedBy: nils.reuter@gmx.net QAContact: jsmeix@novell.com CC: nils.reuter@gmx.net I tried to print two pages on one sheet with kprinter out of kpdf. The print job status switches to "error" after a few seconds. This can be reproduced, also out of other programs with kprinter. Printing one page on one sheet is working fine. The printer is a HP LaserJet 5L (connected via USB->Connexant). Screenshot is attached. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=250493 ------- Comment #5 from nils.reuter@gmx.net 2007-03-05 04:03 MST ------- I found out that I can print two pages on one sheet if I start kpdf as root. Thats not a solutions but I think that brings the solution near. Sorry that i didn't try this earlier, but yet i am not that experienced with linux. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=250493 ------- Comment #6 from jsmeix@novell.com 2007-03-05 04:40 MST ------- Does it perhaps also work for a new created normal test-user? If yes, the reason might be wrong settings in whatever KDE config file in the home directory? What is the content of ~/.lpotions and/or ~/.cups/lpoptions for the user where it does not work? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=250493 ------- Comment #7 from nils.reuter@gmx.net 2007-03-05 05:18 MST ------- No, it doesn't work for a new created user. There is no lpoptions in ~ or ~/.cups (there is also no ~/.cups). Also in /root, there isn't any of that file. /etc/cups/lpoptions is empty. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I don't have your printer but a HP LaserJet 1220. I set up a queue using your cups/ppd/laserjet5l.ppd from attachment #122272 and printed your PDF from attachment #122273 with two pages on one sheet using the command "lp -d lj5l -o number-up=2 file.pdf". It also works when printing your PDF from kpdf and directly via kprinter. Perhaps you might use another driver (i.e. another PPD) for your printer? We provide the following PPDs for the HP LaserJet 5L: HP LaserJet 5L - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.0 Simplified HP LaserJet 5L - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.0 HP LaserJet 5L Foomatic/hpijs HP LaserJet 5L Foomatic/lj4dith HP LaserJet 5L Foomatic/ljet4 (recommended) Currently you use the "CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.0 Simplified" and not the recommeneded PPD. I assume it is because of bug #220712. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=250493 ------- Comment #9 from nils.reuter@gmx.net 2007-04-10 10:22 MST ------- It works with the recommended Foomatic/ljet4 driver. Thx. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
