[Bug 487580] New: Unable to configure volume on Dell Studio 1737
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=487580 Summary: Unable to configure volume on Dell Studio 1737 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: vkrevs@yahoo.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.1b3) Gecko/20090311 SUSE/3.1b3-8.4 Firefox/3.1b3 Today I've migrated my system to a brand new Dell Studio 1737 notebook (by taking the harddrive from an old notebook and inserting it into the new one). Upon reboot, there was no sound. I had followed instructions in http://forums.opensuse.org/hardware/64-bit/409684-no-sound-dell-studio-1737-... to update to the today's ALSA git snapshot including Alsa KMP modules and rebooted. Then I reconfigured my soundcards via Yast2->Sound and rebooted again. Resulting alsa config is at http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=e03125671c2e3288709c753061bb8858ad392394 This worked, and I could play mp3's via amarok, etc, but the volume was very low. So I opened Yast2->Sound and attempted to change Volume settings. However, yast produced an error message shown in the attachment. Yast log is also attached. I was however able to increase volumes using the command line alsactl utility. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Attempt to open Yast->Sound 2. 3. Expected Results: Yast2->Volume works. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
