In my case the BIOS was misconfigured. But there are also reports that buggy BIOSes could cause this problem (see Debian bug). Debian fixed this problem in Bug #304776: http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-closed@lists.debian.org/msg104531.ht... Ubuntu fixed the bug too. The Ubuntu bug fix http://patches.ubuntu.com/l/lilo/extracted/01_buggy_bios_workaround.dpatch also workes for openSUSE 10.3. I tested the patch against the official openSUSE 10.3 lilo package (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/10.3/standard/src/lilo-2...). The patch alone was not very useful in my case. After applying the patch I also had to set cylinders, heads and sectors in /etc/lilo.conf. Later I found the problem in my misconfigured BIOS. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
