Bluetooth dongle Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rfno@fietze-home.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.6; Linux) KHTML/4.6.5 (like Gecko) SUSE OS 11.4 x86_64 Can pair BT devices using the specified dongle ID 0a5c:200a Broadcom Corp. Bluetooth dongle but cannot browse, send or receceive files (OBEX). Double checking using multiple BT peers, e.g. a HTC Wildfire S or a SE w880i. The same systems properly work using an other USB BT dongle: ID 0c24:0c24 Taiyo Yuden Bluetooth Device(SAMPLE) Searching the web shows other postings and bug reports, e.g. Ubuntu Bug #453885, and the reason sames to be a change in bluez causing olded devices not to work any more. It seems that a lot of openSUSE/Linux boxes can no longer transfer data due to this bug. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Turn on BT device, make it visible, pair the device. Try to send or receive data e.g. using bluedevil or the device's functions. Actual Results: No transfer and no timeout using bluedevil. Only the device flags a timout (at least my HTC) when trying to send data to the OS box.
