[Bug 408611] New: If "gsynaptics" is used then touchpad fails on reboot
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=408611 Summary: If "gsynaptics" is used then touchpad fails on reboot Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jimomura@pathcom.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer I have read some of the history of this utility and I am sorry to have to report this. If one uses "gsynaptics" (which is the "touchpad" utility), then the next time you boot your computer, the touchpad will stop working when "X" boots. When that happens, the only thing you can do is shutdown and reboot to safe mode and delete the relevant %conf.xml file. I found this out in 11.0, and that was part of the reason I stopped using 11.0 and started using 10.3. I have tried using it under 10.3 and the same problem occurs. This might be a problem on the driver side due to an error in porting from 32-bit to 64-bit. If "gsynaptics" works in 32-bit, then that is what I would look for. "gsynaptics" itself seems to be working properly. I cannot say for sure since I do not really know how it is intended to work. But the resulting output file looks usable to me. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 388236 ***
Thank your for pointing out bug 388236. I missed it in my previous research. Unfortunately, this bug is not resolved. As you can see by the date on which I opened this report, the current situation is that the bug I am reporting exists. I have looked back at the sources referred to in the previous "fix" and the current source has changed. Now that I have seen it, I can only wonder if the latest changes have somehow re-established the bug, or if this is being caused by something different. However, there is a current effort to fix a version of this bug in 11.0 (bug 402864), which I am watching. So we can leave this closed for now. If fixing that bug does not fix this bug, then this can be re-opened. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=388236 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
