[Bug 893196] New: Installation should be more explicit about bootloader redundancy.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=893196 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=893196#c0 Summary: Installation should be more explicit about bootloader redundancy. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 201408* Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: yast2-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: arvidjaar@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 I tested installation on RAID1 disks (/boot, swap and / as RAID1). yast correctly correctly detected it and offered Boootloader redundancy in bootloader installation properties, but it was *not* active by default. Unfortunately most users are not aware of this feature. I think that a) redundancy must be active by default when /boot is on support RAID (I hope support for other RAID types will appear ...). Having redundant device for /boot is strong enough indication that user wants boot to be redundant. b) there should be "quick link" (not sure how is it correctly called) for bootloader redundancy on summary screen to draw user's attention to this feature. I categorize it as bug, because there are many user reports about this problem for earlier versions (i.e. 13.1).
