Currently it is unclear where to branch and submit patches to. I do know how the infrastructure of Pantheon works and I know the require packages but I can't contribute much if the plan is to port the desktop (and modify its code to suit our infrastructure). I only expect problems in GNOME:Ayatana dependencies and the package manager being APT-centric which can simply be replaced by yast-gtk. However, I believe it will be possible to get at least the individual applications working, which is already handy if you want to use them together with other desktops. Some like Midori are already shared with the Lxde/Xfce repositories. My hope is we get away with almost no patches. However, the main issue is that the Ayatana indicators simply don't work and hence that puts Wingpanel in jeapoardy. Some of the indicators rely on upstart for system management, if I'm not mistaken, and thus they are utterly broken. I'm afraid a few patches here and there are inevitable.
