[Bug 810034] New: fontconfig: files moved from /etc/fonts/conf.avail to /usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail, but (some) docs still refer to old place
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=810034 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=810034#c0 Summary: fontconfig: files moved from /etc/fonts/conf.avail to /usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail, but (some) docs still refer to old place Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jnelson-suse@jamponi.net QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0 For some reason, files (documented to be in /etc/fonts/conf.avail - their previous location) moved to /usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail. This broke symlinks in /etc/font/conf.d/ *and* the README (documentation) refers to "../conf.avail" (from the conf.d directory), which exists but *doesn't* have the files in it. Summary: *some* files installed to /etc/fonts/conf.avail *some* files installed to /usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail documentation refers to the former. symlinks that *were* to files that were in the former are now broken. /usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail is pretty opaque compared to the (reasonably intuitive) location of /etc/fonts/conf.avail. Summary: *some* files installed to /etc/fonts/conf.avail
*which* files are installed to /etc/fonts/conf.avail?
documentation refers to the former.
Bug in documentation.
symlinks that *were* to files that were in the former are now broken. That's in my opinion bug in fontconfig.spec, conf.d/*.conf files distributed by fontconfig package should be marked as %config, not %config(noreplace).
/usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail is pretty opaque compared to the (reasonably intuitive) location of /etc/fonts/conf.avail. Why the change?
Why not? I personally don't see it opaque, I like this solution more, because files under */conf.avail/ configures actually nothing. For exact explanation, why the default changed, ask upstream. --with-templatedir=DIR Use DIR to store the configuration template files [default=DATADIR/fontconfig/conf.avail] -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
