[Bug 1101664] New: Issues entering GRUB password
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1101664 Bug ID: 1101664 Summary: Issues entering GRUB password Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader Assignee: jsrain@suse.com Reporter: digulla@hepe.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I have three problems with entering the GRUB password (so GRUB can load its files from an encrypted root): 1. I use a non-english keyboard but GRUB can't load the keyboard mapping because that's on the encrypted file system. 2. I can't see what I type. I have doubts that BackSpace/Delete works. 3. If I make a mistake, I drop to the GRUB command line. Solutions: 1. Put the keyboard mapping somewhere where GRUB can load it. Maybe the EFI partition or a completely new partition. 2. Show some feedback as users type. Make this configurable for the paranoid. 3. Ask several times for the password. Drop to the GRUB command line only when pressing RETURN without entering a passowrd. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
