In my case the monitor reports resolution values that are very high thus unusuable. Nevertheless X guesses what to use and uses those high values. Now, when changing this within a session the modification stays only until the next login. This is very annoying as an unexperienced user should not be urged to do such things again and again. Saving the session has no impact, even making sure that "restart the last session" is active has no impact on this. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use a high resolution monitor 2. X will always use the highest resolution available 3. you cannot save modified settings.
