Couldn't splashy_start_splashy. Error -7 Following this, the screen flashes black and white continuously, and the hibernate splash screen (with the word 'Suspending' and the loading bar) can be vaguely seen. During this time, the loading bar is actually making progress. During the flickering of the screen, it seems as if the monitor is being repeatedly powered on and off. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Click on Hibernate from the desktop. Actual Results: Splash screen flashes from black to white continuously throughout the hibernation process. Expected Results: Splash screen should have been presented without any flickering of the monitor. The command: splashy test from the desktop returns: Couldn't splashy_start_splashy. Error -7. Steps to reproduce: 1. Boot the system 2. Log in 3. Hit CTRL+ALT+F1 4. Hit CTRL+ALT+F7 5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4. Expected results: Step 3 results in a TTY terminal Step 4 returns to GUI Actual results: Works the first time. Upon attempting to switch to a TTY and back the second time, the screen starts to flicker (in exactly the same manner as during the hibernate process). Nothing can be done to stop this and bring the system back to a usable state except hitting the power button and restarting. Additional details: The switching with CTRL+ALT+F1 and CTRL+ALT+F7 works perfectly (even when performed repeatedly) at the KDM Login Screen, i.e. when not logged on. Only when attempting this switch from the desktop does the problem arise. Please advise if I should report this as a new bug, since the flickering looks identical to that encountered during the hibernate.
