[Bug 642107] New: Networkmanager can not get IP address without manual intervention
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=642107 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=642107#c0 Summary: Networkmanager can not get IP address without manual intervention Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: f.alabas@ttmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=391725) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=391725) Output of nm-tool command after reboot User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.10) Gecko/20100914 SUSE/3.6.10-0.3.1 Firefox/3.6.10 After rebooting my laptop, networkmanager is unable to get IP configuration automatically. I tries to get the IP configuration forever. This happens randomly, but after 70% of the reboots. Each time I reboot my machine, I have to open knetworkmanager from the task manager and click on the "Auto Eth0" to make the networkmanager get the IP configuration manually, then it works. When setting up the network card with traditional "ifup" method everything works perfect. I am attaching relevant files for your investigation. (Files before and after my manual intervention) Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Reboot the machine 2. 3. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=642107 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=642107#c6 --- Comment #6 from Fatih Alabas <f.alabas@ttmail.com> 2010-11-20 21:03:06 UTC --- I can not see connection name "Auto eth0" in the wired connection list of knetworkmanager, so I can not enable the "connect automatically" option. "Auto eth0" wired connection is that what was made up automatically by 11.3 during the fresh 11.3 installation. Actually I can find any option to delete and/or reconfigure it. In anyway, "Auto eth0" wired connection sometimes connects automatically which actually makes the connect automatically option redundant. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
