[Bug 543924] New: Milestone 8: X server won't start during network installation onto virtual machine
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=543924 Summary: Milestone 8: X server won't start during network installation onto virtual machine Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: norbert.jurkeit@web.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090909 SUSE/3.5.3-1.2 Firefox/3.5.3 When performing a network installation of Milestone 8 onto a virtual machine, X windows did not start in the first place. As a result, most of the installation had to be done with the text based installer. Fortunately X did work after reboot from the (virtual) harddisk after installation of packages was finished. I tried 2 times with 320 and 512 MByte memory assigned to the virtual machine. This should be sufficient to launch a GUI environment even without swap space. The problem was not observed with Milestone 7. Reproducible: Always The virtual machine was created by Virtualbox 3.0.6 on an openSUSE 11.1 host. A screen resolution of 1024x768 was selected and 16 MByte video memory were assigned. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
