GSM and CDMA already work, DSL support should land this week. First of all, most of the modems these days are softmodems which (if work in linux at all) require proprietary closed source drivers. Additionally, there is no way to detect modems in linux (opening random files with regexp pattern /dev/tty* does not count). I'm not entirely sure about ISDN support, but it doesn't look like there's many people interested in that. So I'm going to close this bug as "WONTFIX". If you strongly disagree, open a bug against HAL to suggest a feature to automatically detect and tag modems. Programmer <casualprogrammer@yahoo.com> 2008-05-26 07:02:03 MDT --- Well, at least there should be a means to manage configured modems, in my ( and probably a lot of road warriors ) case I have set up a modem for my mobile phone and use it for network access when no wlan available. In 10.3 I could (de)connect using NetworkManager, this option seems to be completely gone and should be restored. Regarding configuration, there was also a link to yast2 modem, so you had easy access to configuring one. As is, you would need to use Kinternet together with NetworkManager, which seems sort of clumsy. NM will not read your yast configuration files for modems, that always created more problems than it solved. "Road warriors" have a gsm or cdma card and NM supports these.
