Please, update ALSA to 1.0.14 even if ALSA is in RC. The reasoning is that pretty much every new desktop machine ships with an Intel High Definition Audio Card with codecs (SigmaTel, Realtek), thus renders ALSA 1.0.13 quite useless due to the fact that it doesn't support those codecs.
