This keyboard and mouse are active on bios, and also on grub line. And have worked during the last years without any trouble. With kernel 3.1.0 (during 12.1 development, or if I boot on it) the keyboard is functional when the system boot up and ask for my key pass to unlock the encrypted md/lvm. This is no more the case with 3.2, the keyboard is detected later during the boot process. The second symptom is with kdm the keyboard has the en-us layout, then once in kde it has the fr-ch I wish. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install factory on a laptop on an encrypted lvm/md 2. Connect an external usb keyboard 3. The external keyboard is perfectly working in bios and grub line. During the boot, at the point to unlock the crypted vg the external keyboard doesn't work anymore. Using the internal laptop allow to unlock the crypted vg. One booted the external keyboard work as expected. It's a pretty common device that now requires a separate driver. This driver either needs to be built into the kernel or included in the initrd by default. Up to now, when Logitech Unifying receivers are connected to a Linux based system, a single keyboard and a single mouse are presented to the HID Layer, even if the Unifying receiver can pair up to six compatible devices. The Unifying receiver by default multiplexes all incoming events (from multiple keyboards/mice) into these two. I suppose them this kind of device on >3.1 kernel is now mandatory in mkinitrd eventually even if not present. If a user install those kind of device on a mono keyboard computer after building his initrd, and need to unlock a crypted / I suppose it will fail forever for him.
