[Bug 236123] New: Helix Banshee Crashes on use of [ or ] in song name
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=236123 Summary: Helix Banshee Crashes on use of [ or ] in song name Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: kaiwai.gardiner@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de When importing music off the cd, "Bill Evans, Affinity" the application "Helix Banshee" which is bundled with OpenSuSE, crashes. If I remove the [ ] from the song title, it continues extracting without crashing. I have a feeling it has to do with how the files are written to the destination drive - the destination drive is an external hard disk, formatted fat32 and attached via USB 2.0. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I have since moved back to Windows XP Professional due to the buggy nature of both OpenSuSE and Banshee; The constant crashes due to unsupported characters in file names such as :, " and ?; worse still, the inaccurate track name retrieval which never actually requests the end user for a choice as to whether they are the correct track names for the cd inserted. Couple that with the fact that the whole machine would slow down to a crawl when ripping from a cd and the wireless internet would stop working when under a heavy load, it became impossible to continue to use Linux as a desktop operating system. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

That covers about every character on my keyboard that *might* conflict with a filesystem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
