[Bug 296852] New: segfault in newhidups driver in nut package sles10sp1
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=296852 Summary: segfault in newhidups driver in nut package sles10sp1 Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SLES 10 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jonny@stbrn.ac.uk QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer After an install of sles10sp1, installed nut and configured to control ups hardware. The only driver for this version of nut that works with the apc smartups 2200 that we have is newhidups...I have tried all the other drivers for our hardware. Everything seems to be fine at this point until an "event" (disconnecting mains power from ups) at this point the syslog messages show that a segfault occurs and the driver is detached from the ups. Upon investigation at the authors site I found a reference to changes from 2.03 to 2.04:- Release notes for NUT 2.0.4 - what's new since 2.0.3: - The newhidups critical bug (segmentation fault) has been fixed. It has also received some more care, like buxfixes and new models support and enhancement for Solaris. [Peter Selinger and Arnaud Quette] The recommended driver for our smartups 2200 is the usbhid-ups which doesn't ship with this version (2.03) Downloaded v2.20 stable, compiled and set up with usbhid-ups as the driver and it works perfectly. No segfaults on events (like disconnecting mains power from ups). #/usr/sbin/upsd -V Network UPS Tools upsd 2.0.3 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
