https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=769526 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=769526#c0 Summary: GRUB2 has upset graphics resolutions of existing 12.1 systems. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Beta 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader AssignedTo: jsrain@suse.com ReportedBy: hacker@scarlet-jade.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0.1 I installed 12.2 m2 from the DVD onto one of my three root partitions. The systems on the other two partitions were recognised correctly but booting them causes the screen to be the wrong resolution. I tried resetting the value in System Settings but only one setting was available in the drop-down menu of Size & Orientation. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install 12.2 M2 (KDE) from DVD and accept default GRUB2 booter settings (on /). 2.Try booting another system from the menu. 3. Actual Results: 12.1 system boots with wrong resolution - 4:3 aspect. Can't recall exact numbers at the moment but either 1280x1024 or 1024x768. Expected Results: Should boot to 1920x1080. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is that correct? Anyway, the grub2 setup currently seems to have a faible for 1280x1024. I'm not sure why. It added vga=0x31a to the old boot entries. This might be because it was there before or it's just some default value. Assigning to grub2 maintainer. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Use EDID would be a way to get it properly probed, this is what grub2's "auto" did. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
