http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1106267 Bug ID: 1106267 Summary: no Crypt Files in YaST2 Partitioner Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: carlosflange@gmail.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- The section "Crypt Files", where individual encrypted images can be created, is missing in YaST2. The behaviour should be as explained in the manual: https://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/leap/security/html/book.security/cha.... With the removal of cryptconfig and of the creation of encrypted home directories in YaST2, there is currently no alternative to full disk/partition/volume encryption other than this method. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The whole feature about encrypted home directories (and likely also the tools making it possible) was intentionally removed from SLE15 and Leap 15.0.
This is correct, but it only concerns encrypted home directories, because cryptconfig was removed, as I mentioned.
It's not a supported feature in the base system anymore. That's why we removed the corresponding entry in the partitioner as well. So unless I'm mistaken about that, this is actually a documentation bug. Mounting an encrypted file should not be longer documented.
This is not correct. The feature "Crypt Files" only needs cryptsetup, which is still supported and exactly the same tool used for full partition encryption. So, there is no reason to remove "Crypt Files" from the partitioner nor from the documentation.
Reassigning.
Please assign it to the maintainer of YaST2 Partitioner or the one responsible for encrypted images/partitions. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
