The solid library package recommends installing udisks2. Do you always use '--no-recommends'?
The error message output by the solid library package _suggests_ that udisks2 is missing. The fact that manual installation of udisks2 actually solves the problem shows that this package is _necessary_ for running k3b. hence installing udisks2 is _mandatory_ and not a mere _recommendation_. I always use "--no-recommends" with no problems so far.
