[Bug 407004] New: "sar -d" from sysstat-8.0.4-31. 1 does not work as advertised.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=407004 Summary: "sar -d" from sysstat-8.0.4-31.1 does not work as advertised. Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bmynars@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other System: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 4Gb of RAM SATA internal disk Problem: Executing 'sar -d' produces following: bmynars@tux-200 [/home/bmynars] $ sar -d Requested activities not available in file The expected result would be metrics provided for disk devices on the system. Note: I am using SuSE (SLES10SP1 and SLED10SP2) in my work place on multiple systems. They all exhibit the same issue. It seems to me that this bug has been carried over in multiple releases. 'sar -d' works just fine on other distros, for example UBUNUTU. If this is a configuration issues, I was not able to find a documentation dealing with any special instructions on how to configure it on SuSE. Please, let me know if you wish any additional info/logs. Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I will enable it for Factory (upcoming 11.1). It works now as advertised :-) Stephan, I would be careful with the comment "if one user has only noticed it..." There might be many reasons why it wasn't reported earlier. As I mentioned before, we have discovered this behavior in SLES10SP1 and SLES10SP1 and 2. That's what prompted me to dig more into SLES and OpenSuSE. That's when I have noticed the same behavior. And because OpenSuSE is used as a 'base' for SLES, I want to make sure that future SLES release work as advertised. We have a big SLES farm so you can imagine that I'd rather avoid modifying crontabs manually (even though it's doable). :-) Thanks for your help. I would consider it resolved. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
