https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=796423 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=796423#c0 Summary: Can't login to LDAP user id's in 12.3 Milestone 2 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 12.3 Milestone 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: srivathsaacharya@gmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=518661) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=518661) error message file User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:17.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/17.0 Firstly I have configured openLDAP server without TLS. I also configured LDAP client without selecting 'Enable TLS' (Done with other configurations like create default configuration objects etc.. No problem in any stage, Asked for SSSD installation & got it installed thru downlod) Created LDAP users in user & group Management. - Uptill this stage things went like breeze. But not able to login. Not not appearing in KDM list, not logging in even after manual typing of user & password. Meanwhile I have configured samba and gave ldap as back end. Same problem while trying to log in thru Windows also. I checked sssd in system services it was showing 'yes*'. upon trying service sssd restart, it was showing error. Upon checking thru systemctl following was the result Hi, I have installed 12.3 M2 on my test server today. My test server serves 3 things 1. Samba (Ldap as user Back End) 2. Ldap 3. PHP & Web server. While configuring LDAP, I have gone ahead without TLS both on Server & LDAP client. Neatly taken ( unlike Open Suse 12.2 – which was very messy ). Added New users. But not able to login to LDAP accounts. Not appearing in KDM and Not able to login on manual entry. Also I have checked SSSD Status in System Services where it was showing ‘ yes* ‘. When I type ‘service sssd restart ‘ It was showing error. when i checked systemctl, following was the error sssd.service – System Security Services Daemon Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/sssd.service; enabled) Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Wed, 2013-01-02 23:51:43 IST; 1min 2s ago Process: 3041 ExecStart=/usr/sbin/sssd -D -f (code=exited, status=4) CGroup: name=systemd:/system/sssd.service Jan 02 23:51:43 Chinnu.Chittara.int systemd[1]: Starting System Security Services Daemon… Jan 02 23:51:43 Chinnu.Chittara.int sssd[3041]: nscd socket was detected. This is a duplicate of bug#769155.
@coolo I guess sssd needs a rebuild to be able to use the latest ldb version in Factory.
Addtional Information.... I uninstalled ldb1.1.14 from Software Management & installed ldb 1.1.12 (Download source, make & Make install). sssd service started without any problem but no ldap user login possible, No samba login possible in windows client either.. By the way root user in samba is working fine under windows client -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Because baselibs.conf got broken by some sub packaging experiments :(.
My bad in r77. We really need build-mkbaselibs to _error out_ if baselibs.conf does not match the list of RPM files produced by rpmbuild. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
