Earlier versions of gtk2 used to expose pangoxft in their .pc files. Packages like control-center2 incorrectly relied on this and started to fail when the references to pangoxft could no longer be resolved. This has been fixed upstream by removing all references to pangoxft. The patch doesn't do anything useful other than creating an unnecessary dependency!
