https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=645610 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=645610#c0 Summary: Machine refuses to hibernate, sees phantom sata drive. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: carlos.e.r@opensuse.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=394261) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=394261) suspend log. It is complaining about /dev/sdd, which does not exist. There was one sdd, external (esata), about 18 hours ago. Disk had an error, was removed and connected on another cable. Went to sde. cer@Telcontar:~> l /dev/sdd* brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 48 2010-10-11 10:32 /dev/sdd brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 49 2010-10-11 10:32 /dev/sdd1 brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 50 2010-10-11 10:32 /dev/sdd2 fdisk -l /dev/sdd locks. Not even a kill 9 works. I will have to power off instead, which is a pain in the ass, many apps opened. Oct 12 04:33:45 Telcontar pm-hibernate[17638]: Entering hibernate. Carlos, given the nature of the problem, I suppose you are not able to reproduce the issue, right?
Right :-)
In case it happens in future, could you try doing: echo 1 >/sys/block/sdd/device/delete and see whether it makes things going? It tells the kernel that the drive is actually gone...
Ok, I'll try to remember, it is certainly worth the try compared to a reboot. I have pasted a note in Tomboy. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
