Neither of the upgraded systems had the vnc setup in the previous version (though I have used it as far back as SuSE 7-or-8.something with Xfree86). I manually set this up on the three systems as it meets my needs, whereas the other mechanisms for vnc use (xinetd/Xvnc and krfb/krdc) do not. Specifically, I need to be able to connect to the console (display :0) session if it is running (xinetd/Xvnc do not do this, ever) and I need to be able to start the console session from the kdm (or xdm, gdm, etc.) login screen if none has been started (krfb/krdc cannot do this as no KDE session is running on the console at that point). I don't need sax to set this up (I can do that fine manually, though it would be a nice addition), but I need sax to not destroy the setup when it rewrites xorg.conf (if a monitor is changed, etc.). Sax still elided the InputDevice Sections, but put the devices (as Core* devices) in the ServerLayout section. I noticed that sax is also rather picky about modeline names... I'm not sure which, if any, of those would still work (at least one system won't, as I know that the fglrx driver that used to work under 10.1 no longer works with the hardware; I'd have to change that to the radeon driver). The old files have a Option "InputFashion" "VNC" in each of the vnc-related InputDevice sections, and a line like Option "VNC" "3 2" ("5 2" in one system's file) in the ServerLayout section. It's not clear what these do, if anything. I can simply attach files (they won't work unmodified as is, because of the fglrx driver issue and because the monitor on one system has changed; the other system's files might work with minimal effort as long as I avoid some xrandr issues that have been causing trouble for me since SuSE 9.x), or I can try them with sax2 here (but it may take a few days until I have the time to do so). Are the syntax peculiarities (special form of InputDevice lines, magic "InputFashion" option, restriction on mode names) documented anywhere?
