Fortunately for legacy GPUs like GeForce 2 MX
So, you're saying (PCIe) 8600GT is also legacy, and thus requires nv instead of nouveau? 11.4 & 12.1 both claim to use server 1.9.3. Is that really true? If so, why does 11.4 work as expected but 12.1 not? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I guess it might be a regression in Kernel DRM. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I booted M3 on comment 3's host gx26b running nv 8600GT to 11.4's kernel-desktop-2.6.37.6-6, and got the same failure. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Fedora kernel & initrd booted using 12.1's / does not make 12.1's X work as expected. (In reply to comment #4)

NAICT, the nomodeset approach, in conjunction with xorg.conf, isn't workable in 12.1 for 4 year old PCIe 8600GT with dual DVI (only) out plugged into an i945G (onboard Intel video) motherboard, the reason for thread http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2011-07/msg00259.html Saturday. I rebuilt the kernel after setting KMS_IN_INITRD="no", and 'rmmod nouveau' before starting X. Summary of Xorg.0.log: no screens with usable configuration, 4 disconnected outputs (2 real DVI, 2 phantom VGA). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
