[Bug 215941] New: video setup defaults to 43Hz refresh
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=215941 Summary: video setup defaults to 43Hz refresh Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: AutoYaST AssignedTo: ug@novell.com ReportedBy: hlhowell@pacbell.net QAContact: qa@suse.de My video board will not support the 43Khz refresh rate that the install attempts to set it to. The screen goes blank, an error message is generated, and then it just halts. The disk I have is from Linux User and Developer magazine, DVD format, and says openSUSE 10.1. My system is an older HP 455MHz celeron with 256MB of memory. The video is the ATI RagePro with 8M. It is currently running Redhat 3.2.2-5 (last Redhat release prior to fedora) with no problem. The system model number is Pavillion 6475Z. The HP website says the card can be upgraded, would that help? Or is there an alternate installation methoc? I could not find any help in the README files on the disk, although they are seemingly located in various places and I could have missed a critical one. regards, Les H -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Here is the torrent file name: SUSE-Linux-10.1-Remastered-DVD-i386.torrent which I received on October 28 2:21 PM. I am using a ViewSonic VA1912wb LCD monitor attached via a belkin KVM switch. The system just halted. Later I attached a different monitor, and the package ran to the point of formatting and died. I am now working on Fedora, but the system no longer connects to the ethernet due to different problem. I thought 10.1 was the latest "released" version. If it is still in Beta, what is the latest reliable release? I can download that and try again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

According to your information you used the remastered 10.1 CD which means you are running 10.1 which is not the prodcut we are currently working on. Bugs for "old products" are addressed from our L3 team. For details on this feel free to contact Uwe Drechsel <uwedr@suse.de> The current product is openSUSE 10.2 (beta1). Information on this product can be found here: http://en.opensuse.org/Development_Version#Local_Installation I will remind this one Regards -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
