[Bug 235934] New: patch from ~2007-01-16
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235934 Summary: patch from ~2007-01-16 Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: bluedzins@wp.pl QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com There was a patch yesterday, I installed it today. Well -- it took me about 2 hours to fix the mess the patch did. Reinstallation of the X system and Mesa -- I was just guessing what went wrong, so I was looking for anything related to DRI (I remembered that the patch was something about DRI). The problem: I am just guessing /usr/bin/X: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/xorg/modules//extensions/libdri.so: undefined symbol: drmSetServerInfo Dell Latitude D610, i915 chipset. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Since you now reinstalled half the systm
If I wouldn't do it I hadn't written this report ;-)
Anyway, please attach /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

I have no idea why your libdri module even doesn't try to load the drm module. Of course then the symbol is missing and the Xserver no longer starts. I cannot reproduce this problem. a) how can I check if the patch is installed for sure (the X patch disappeared from the list of available patches in yast)?
Simply switch the "patch catagory" combo box under the patches list from "installable patches" to "installable and installed patches".
I mean 150% -- is the list of patches in yast is bullet-proof proof ;-)
As bullet-proof as it can ever get with software. You know that usually bullets fly right through software without doing any damage whatsoever. ;-) (Just be careful not to hit your computer or your monitor, though - they will not be that forgiving...) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
