[Bug 658997] New: touchpad movement causes button release action even though button held down
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=658997 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=658997#c0 Summary: touchpad movement causes button release action even though button held down Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 Applications AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: daved@windclimber.id.au QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686 on x86_64; rv:2.0b7pre) Gecko/20101008 Firefox/4.0b7pre SeaMonkey/2.1b1 Thinkpad R61 with 5 buttons, touchpad and red joystick. If any of three upper buttons held down and pointer movement initiated with touchpad, a button release event occurs. This prevents moving the pointer to an item in a popdown menu. xev reports the button release. The same problem does not occur using either or both of the two lower buttons, and does not occur if pointer motion is initiated with the red joystick button. This problem does not occur with the same machine using openSuSE 11.1 or 11.2 and does not happen with ubuntu or red hat. I really do not want to abandon openSuSE but this problem prevents me from successfully running 11.4 (milestone 4). I reported it for 11.3 but it was not fixed. I will be happy to try to find a solution if someone can tell me how to compile and install the driver. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot 11.4 on thinkpad R61 and open an Xterm 2. With cursor in Xterm hold down Ctrl, then uppoer left button 3. Try to scroll down to menu item using touchpad Actual Results: Menu disappears as soon as pointer motion is requested. Expected Results: Ability to move down menu and select item with button releaseK Layout of buttons I refer to is: 1 2 3 pad 4 5 where I refer to 1-3 as the upper buttons. When things behave as expected, buttons 1 and 4 are equivalent and 3 and 5 are equivalent. 2 is equivalent to 4+5. But with 11.4 this equivalence is broken, and button 1-3 depression and touchpad movement are incompatible. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

So that can't be the fix. I'll give it a try with X11:XOrg packages (openSUSE buildservice project for currentl X.Org packages) built against openSUSE 11.3 later.
Same results. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
